The day was coming to an end. The sun looked as if it was swimming in a pool of blood, clouds dancing around, all orange tinted. The girl could see the city, but still a few hours of walk before she could reach the main doors. The small priestess was dressed in a pink dress with white cross. The hood on her head made her look strange mostly because of the bunny ears decorations. She wore white boots that were used from all the walking.
Primrose lived alone for a few years. One day, she received her master's halo by the mail, with a note: " I'm dead" written on it. She spent the last hundred years alone with him. Now, she was truly alone. For an unknown reason, her master was having fun with her. Trying new spell, new curses, new experiments... In fact, he was the most immature person around, always searching new stuff.
One day, she heard him talk about some guy named Ariste Rozenburg, some kind of bard cursed with a flower on his head. He was curious about that curse and wanted to exanimate him.
That was, the only road she had once her master was dead. A flower guy. Since they were both cursed, maybe they could work together and remove those curses! .... or so she thought...
It was around midnight when she finally reached the city. The cold air was making her shiver and the fog was licking her feet almost as if it wanted to shallow her. As she walked silently thought the night, strange sounds made her wonder what was wrong with this place. She noticed the broken windows of some kind of orphanage. She entered the place, even if her mind told her not to. But as a priestess, she wanted to make sure everyone was all right. The main room was empty, but there was still this blood smell all over the place. Then went to the stairs but only to discover children's dead body. Sucked out of their lives... or mostly, out of blood. As she reaches the second floor, corpses of children were lying all over the place. The cries of a child gave her hope that some of them would still be alive. She rushed to the room, faced what she was scared of meeting. The sharp tooth was well defined with blood. The man staying in front of her was emotionless, even thought for a second he was distracted by her, the vampire walked calmly to the children. The small elf passed the vampire to protect the children.
-"How... am I supposed to deal with this?"
As the vampire walked to her, the wood cracked under the feet of someone running. In the door, a small boy with white hair holding a big lance was panting from the running.
"Mister Aram! Don't!"
The young boy started to glow and attacked the vampire. The holy magic was strong enough to stop the vampire, but the boy fainted too. All alone, the little elf didn't know what to do anymore, but she was still holding the two kids, trying to ease them. After a minute, the vampire stood up again, but the young boy was still down. Unable to move, she only lifted up her hand, ready to cast a holy spell to repeal the evil creature. The man held his head up. His blond spiky hair was full of blood, his clean outfit was ripped and the burnt smell was awful. He looked around, as he was trying to figure out where he was.
"What... what have I done?"
The man had a really calm voice, almost monotone. He turned around, picked up the white-haired boy, and said;
"I'm sorry for what just happened. Would you please follow me, I have excuses to do, but I don't think this is the right place."
Unsure of what to do, Primrose stood up, holding the children near her. She followed the man, even thought her instinct told her not to. But seeing the sad face the man did while crossing the dead children, she wasn't sure about him doing an act. She followed him to the inn. In the darkness of the room, a woman was waiting. The man gave her the young boy, still unconscious. The woman looked at Primrose, and offered her a seat.
"I think tonight was a rude night for you young girl. Sorry you had to be involved in our stories. Aram over there, is a vampire, but right now, it seems he's under a spell that makes him kill. We aren't vampires that kill, we only drink what we need."
Primrose's thought started to run crazy as she heard the "we". It was the first time she was seeing a vampire, or two. She only read about them, and they didn't look as evil, in fact she tried to detect evil from them, but nothing. She drank tea with the woman named Jasna. The white-haired boy, Axel, was a priest but by some strange events became a vampire too. So the boy using holy magic was a vampire. A really strange combination. Jasna was a very silent person, she didn't like to talk and always gave half the answer, if she gave an answer at all. After about half an hour, more people came in the inn. In those people was a blond elf with green eyes. If it wasn't of the burned clothes, the blood and the tired looks, he would be really handsome, but what caught Primrose's eye wasn’t his beauty, mostly the flower on his head. She suddenly stood up and ran toward him.
"Are... Are you Mister Ariste Rozenburg?"
Ariste looked up at the cute elf in front of her. He big purple eyes were cover a little by her pink hair with a weird green shiny glow. Even thought she was an elf, she was well developed, in fact, it was really abnormal for an elf to be this much formed. He looked her well before answering. Mostly think about if he already met her somewhere.
"Do I know you?"
"hummm... actually no" she answered with a small voice.
" ... Heh! I know I'm famous!" he answered with a big smile. Meanwhile he thought "man I'm lucky, it's not one of those women I slept with coming back for me..."
Primrose looked at him and continued.
"Actually, you have the same kind of curse that I do.... so... I was wondering if you could help me get rid of it..."
"... My flower?"
" Ooooooh! Forget it!"
Primrose was stunned by the sudden answer.
"wha... what? But why?"
"Cause I like it? I know where to go because of it!"
It didn't took long for Primrose to understand that Ariste was a carefree person. He enjoyed life by the moment. He was wearing a white shirt with black short that looked too big for him. Over that was some kind of blue apron, on his right was a bag that did glass sound, like he had a lot of bottles with him. Anyhow, no one would have guessed that he was a bard at first glance. Jasna offered that everyone goes to sleep, the night was quite advanced by then and everyone was tired.
The days passed by and Primrose stayed by the group’s side, trying to convince Ariste to help her get rid of the curses. Ariste only smiled and refused. The group and three more members. A guy named Reno, she didn't feel quite good around him, not because he was evil, but because he was a thief. He was well dressed, but he had an annoying attitude. The red head was best friend with Aram, the vampire guy. The second one was a cat girl named Rain. She didn't know more about her then her name. She had short dark blue hair and was able to use her chi as an attack. The last one was the weirdest of the group. She was a small brunette with pigtails all the time. She wore a revealing outfit saying it was her school uniform and that she came from a place called Tokyo.
Primrose didn't feel really at her place and didn't talk to anyone except Ariste. She didn't even know where she was going. After two weeks of walking, they arrived at the capital of the blue elf, Rinad'ell. Ariste said they came to get someone, actually, his best friend. She didn't understand why everyone was following him. He always answered that he was the "leader" or "guide", no one ever contested his decisions... She wondered a lot why, but seeing him acting all strange and answering things that she wasn't even sure it had a meaning, she saw why no one went against him. No one could entertain a conversation pretty long without turning crazy. In the city he decided that everyone should split up to search his friend. Since everyone had met him except her and Rain. Ariste took Primrose's hand and went wandering in the city. The crowded streets made it hard to move around, so much that after a few minutes, he let go of her hand, losing her in the crowd.
"Are you okay young lady?"
Primrose looked at the man, teary eyes.
"I think I'm lost..."
The man laughed a little and brought her to a small café. The man asked her to wait there a little. As she waited, she looked around. The city was peaceful, nothing evil. It was the first time she saw so many people at the same time. She could see the castle from her seat and stared at it for a moment. It was the same as her stories when she was young, with princess and knights. She was so caught in her mind that she didn't notice the chair in front of her moving. She came back to reality when something touched her leg.
"Shhhhh!" said a voice.
She looked around to see nothing, while the voice came from under the table, she put her hand to touch something invisible. As she touched it, it became blurry for a second. She removed her hand as she was surprised.
"Are you... hiding in light?"
As she asked that, a deep voice asked.
"My lady, have you seen a green hair guy?"
"heh?" She lifted her head, looking at the two guards. "Me, I hum .... I think he went that way!" and she pointed a random direction. As the guards went away, the looked at her own shadow, sighing, now a brilliant pink. The invisible voice next to her said a thanks. She tried to look at the invisible thing.
"Are you... Cain?"
Only a "Yipes!" could be heard then foot steps, he was running away.
"Do you know Mister Ariste?" said Primrose before he footsteps crossed the second table.
"Ariste?!" repeated the voice. "He came to get me?"
"Hummm yeah, we went searching for you but I lost him in the crowd..."
"Oh, where is he now?"
"I don't know..."
"Oh... are you ready to run?"
Primrose felt something take her hand. The invisible person became blurry, revealing a cape. She couldn't even see his face, then he started to run. The voices of guards started to yell "THERE HE IS!". They ran in the streets and went in a small alley.
"They found me too soon... we won’t be able to make it..."
"Hun... here... put this..."
Primrose held a wild priest tunic with a bunny hood. He didn't say anything and wore it over his cape. He turned around with a small laugh and took her hand again.
"You're really nice! Thanks"
He started to run again to the city's entrance. This time, no one chased them. A little outside the city, the hooded guy finally sat down.
"Yaiii! we made it! Thank you.. hummm?"
"Oh I'm sorry, it was rude of me not introducing myself. My name is Primrose. You are Mister Cain, right?"
"ahhh! don't mister me puleeeeeaaazzzze" the hood said while shaking his arm one side to another. "So! What have you all been doing? I don't remember you..."
Primrose started to explain how she met up the group, but was interrupted by a strange smell and sound. She stopped talking as the odor of burnt coffee floated around followed by a "gewwwrrr gweerrrrr". Cain looked around and yelled "CAFÉ!" A strange brown mud got out of the grass, with a letter tied to his... neck? Primrose could only help herself but to stare at it.
"What is that?"
"Oh! This is Café, Ariste's pet messenger."
"That's a pet...?"
"No, actually it's a mixture of burn coffee that mutated... he dressed it to deliver messages! It's loyal and... poisonous... You'll get used to it"
Primrose stared the brown thing as Cain read the letter. He smiled and announced that Ariste would come see them in a short while. They talked in the meanwhile and finally Ariste arrived. As he looked at the two he smiled and asked Cain if he did meet his new pink hood. Ariste looked at Cain then said to remove that stupid cape. Cain started to remove it, but stopped in the middle, saying he was stuck. Ariste looked how dorky he was and laughed at him before starting to help. Primrose was only looking, she would finally be able to see how this mysterious Cain looks like.
"AIIIIIIIIIR!" said Cain as is head popped out of the cape. His green spiky hair shined with the reflection of the sun, golden eyes looked at Primrose who was speechless. Ariste walked up to primrose and patted her head.
"I was wondering..." started Ariste. "You have bunny ears right?"
Primrose blushed, then nodded and removed her hood. White long bunny ears appeared. Cain fixed her with a smile before rushing to her.
"It's soooo cute!" he said while taking one to look at it closely.
"Yeah... but... man... does she has the tail too?" Replied Ariste, lifting her skirt.
Primrose jerked and Cain screamed at him, but couldn't help himself but to look too. Just over her pantyhose, a white fluffy tail.
"Master, I can't get married anymore, there are two man staring at my butt..."
Cain suddenly pulled down Prim's skirt and glared at Ariste for doing such a thing. Ariste just smiled naturally like he always did. He told the two that he would go get the others, so they shouldn't move meanwhile and maybe get to know each other. Because after all, this is Cain's new babysitter. Cain and Primrose didn't move an inch.
"What?!" asked Cain, I don't need a babysitter!
"This is what you get for telling me stuff!" blurted Ariste.
"Yeah? Like what?"
"You have a wonderful family ... Caiiiiiiiiiin" snorted Ariste with a mocking smile.
Cain became white, wordless.
"So Miss bunny, take care of him!"
Ariste just turned his back, walking to the city.
